Brief: Women and Power in Nigeria

Research suggests that the underrepresentation of women in the corridors of power is costly. First by preventing the issues affecting women from receiving adequate attention on the political agenda, and second by missing out on the way that higher numbers of women tends to change the way that power behaves. Finally, the imbalance weakens authority, particularly in a democracy, where legitimacy rests in part on representation. Please see below.
