Cote Ivoire: 2020 Elections Political Risk and the Agricultural Sector
On 06 Aug, Alassane Ouattara confirmed plans to stand for a third consecutive term as president of Cote d’Ivoire following the sudden death of his nominated successor, Amadou Gon Coulibaly. Elections are still scheduled for 31 October 2020 and recent events have increased risks around: (a) campaign conduct, (b) the electoral process and, (c) broad-based legitimacy of the results. These risks are non-negligible.
